Entre els més perjudicats pel tancament de la barra figuren els bars sense terrassa que basen la major part dels seus ingressos -o la totalitat, en el cas dels mercats -en ella. En el Mercat de Dénia, començaven el dia el dilluns amb les persianes baixades i els tamborets apilats. Només un bar oferia servei de cafés, refrescos i entrepans per a portar. “La situació és complicada”, deia Toni Cheli, qui es lamentava que després d'haver col·locat mampares i haver adoptat totes les mesures que es requerien, “i amb el que li va costar a la gent tornar després de tres mesos i mig de tancament pel confinament” -afegia- tinguera ara que tancar la barra. Fora, alguns dels clients més matiners es prenien el café a l'altre costat del cristall que separa el mercat del carrer. Tancar la barra suposa, evidentment, baixar la caixa. Aqueix dia, no faria ni la meitat que el dimecres anterior, aventurava. Ell apel·lava a la imaginació -“cal aguantar com siga”, indicava-. Hores després, i després de consultar amb l'Ajuntament, col·locava dues taules pegades a la barra en un intent d'oferir servei a la clientela. El mateix pretenia fer un altre dels bars del mercat amb la intenció d'obrir ahir divendres.
